My Take: This could be the beginning of a comeback for DIS. Iger is a rock star, and I have little doubt he will restore some sense of sanity at the company. Chapek's departure will hopefully signal to other executives that engaging in controversial politics is bad for business and their careers.
Imago Biosciences Inc [IMGO] - Last Close: $17.40
Imgo is skyrocketing on news of a buyout.
Pharma giant Merck has agreed to acquire the clinical-stage biotech stock in an all-cash tender deal valued at $1.35 billion.
Merck will pay $36 to acquire each outstanding share of IMGO, the companies said in a Monday morning statement.
The deal is expected to close in Q1 2023, subject to typical closing procedures and shareholder approval.
IMGO is the top-performing premarket stock with a 104.7% gain.
My Take: Big buyout deal, but it doesn't look like there is a lot of upside left here, with shares currently trading only slightly below the proposed acquisition price.
Meta Materials Inc [MMAT] - Last Close: $1.66
Meta Materials is moving higher on reports of insider buying.
The advanced materials stock released a Form 4 disclosure this morning that revealed a large share purchase by one of the company's directors.
Direct John R. Harding acquired 126,000 shares of MMAT at a price of $1.74 apiece for a total cost of $219,240.
The Form 4 filing is pushing shares of MMAT higher this morning. The stock is up 14.4% on active trading volume.
My Take: This move seems a little overdone given the relatively small purchase, but there may be more going on than meets the eye here. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a big announcement from this company in the coming weeks.
Cosmos Holdings Inc [COSM] - Last Close: $0.1446
A morning announcement is boosting shares of Cosmos Holdings.
The health care company announced today that its Sky Premium Life luxury food supplement brand will be sold on the official in-flight magazine of Iberian Airlines, Ronda.
Roughly 10 million passengers per year fly Iberian Airlines, and Ronda is available free of charge to all of them.
The move will help the company attract a lot more eyeballs, and it could lead to a boost in sales of its Sky Premium Life brand.
COSM is one of this morning's most active stocks, and it's up 22.8% on the news.
My Take: COSM has been moving higher since bottoming out at around $0.0750 per share. If it can maintain its up-trend, there could be more gains ahead for this micro-cap stock.
