PAY RAISES: New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is moving to increase employee wages across all departments in her administration’s latest attempt to address a crippling labor shortage. It would be the first across-the-board pay hike for municipal employees in several years, potentially covering every member of the workforce. LESSON LEARNED: Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams emerged from his federal tax fraud trial with less trust in a criminal justice system that he has long seen as deeply flawed. But the experience, he said in an interview, also left him with a real-world lesson to impart to the young attorneys in his office.
