I didn't know what this sticky treat was called. I started thinking about how it was made. After a few experiments in the kitchen I was able to recreate them. My aunt always gave me these favorite treats every Chinese new year.

I used these roses for many years. I cannot tell you just how many times I bought a bag of spice drops to put this together and take pictures, and I cannot tell you how many times my husband and I ate all the spice drops. This time I finally made the roses and then immediately ate them.

One of my nieces calls pretzels "love hearts" because of their shape, so this one is for her. An easy, yummy way to turn large pretzels into Valentine's with some candy melts and sprinkles. I used the red and white sprinkles from Christmas after removing all the green ones. Thrifty all the way!

My secret to my powerful flavored Beef Stew has a name, "Oscar Jr". Do any of you remember owning a small appliance called the "Oscar Jr"? I have no idea how old it is. It sits on my counter right beside my stove and gets more use than any appliance in my home. I usually refer to this as my chopper, but when it comes to a beef stew, it's all up to "Oscar."
