It’s been a silly season that has reflected a crazy 2020, with Sergio Perez – who you could argue has been one of the star performers this season – running out of options to stay in the sport.

Currently sixth in points, Perez loses his Racing Point seat through no fault of his own, with the rebranded Aston Martin team taking four-time world champion/Ferrari reject Sebastian Vettel for 2021. Even Williams confirmed George Russell today, after a turbulent week of frenzied Perez-linked speculation, so now his options are the star prize of Red Bull Racing or the consolation prize of Haas F1.

Obviously, he can’t wait for long. F1 waits for no man, not even one who’s proven top six quality…
