My vision was a studio apartment — perhaps above a café overlooking a park — where I’d write award-winning novels with a loyal feline companion by my side. She’d be plump with white, rabbit-soft fur and a pink nose, maybe five or six years old. I’d have chosen her — the perfect cat — at the local animal rescue. Together we’d have a perfect life.
