Pesticides ebulletin

Issued: 13 November 2024

This ebulletin contains information relating to plant protection products (PPPs) in Great Britain (GB)

Future GB maximum residue level (MRL) amendments (adopted November 2024)

Methidathion is no longer an approved active substance in GB and there are no PPP authorisations

As notified in our previous ebulletin issued on 8 July 2024, it was proposed to lower all MRLs for methidathion to the limit of quantification, as harmful effects on human health cannot be excluded.

Following completion of the notification process to the World Trade Organization, new MRLs at the limit of quantification for methidathion were adopted on 5 November 2024.

To allow trading partners and food business operators time to adjust to the new lower MRLs, the date of entry into force is 5 May 2025.

You can review the future MRLs in the decision document MRL reviews. The current MRLs in the GB MRL Statutory Register have an expiry date of 4 May 2025 and the new MRLs will appear in the register from 5 May 2025.

Visit HSE's website for more information and guidance on the MRL processes for GB.
