| | CXLs are internationally agreed food standards that are established for pesticide residues in or on food. In November 2024, the Codex Alimentarius Commission adopted new CXLs for a range of pesticide active substance/crop combinations. Agreed CXLs are voluntary and implementation by member countries is not automatic, but they may be adopted as GB maximum residue levels (MRLs) provided they are supported by GB assessments. Following a review by HSE, the CXLs adopted in November 2024 that meet the required level of protection for UK consumers, have now been adopted as GB MRLs. The new MRLs came into force on 17 January 2025 as indicated in the GB MRL Statutory Register. The full list of CXLs adopted as GB MRLs, along with the evaluation report/reasoned opinion and decision document supporting each CXL adopted, is available on the HSE website. |
