| Oliver Stone is one of Hollywood's most successful screenwriters and directors. | He’s the man behind Platoon, based on his experience as a Vietnam veteran, along with movies like Wall Street, JFK and W. This week he told Late Night Live listeners about his autobiography, Chasing The Light – a reference to what filmmakers have to do at the end of the day when the afternoon light is disappearing and they’re running out of time. “You have to think: what do I really need? Speaking of filmmakers, if you’re (like me) a fan of Baz Luhrmann’s work, you might be interested to hear the Australian is planning to make a film about the Russian novel The Master and Margarita. Written in secret in late 1930s Moscow, this book inspires a fervent passion in its readers – who include the Rolling Stones, Patti Smith and Salman Rushdie, as well as Baz.
