Good morning, I hope you all enjoyed your Bank Holiday weekend. It has been a short but fruitful week in the archives. First up was the promised follow up to last week's feature on Penwortham in the 80s and 90s. This week saw the turn of the 80s and 90s and as you can see there was a lot of change in Penwortham at that time. Then there was the delve into years gone by - this time with a look back at 1981. So here's our nostalgic peek at life in Preston, Blackpool and the Fylde Coast back then. And finally this week saw the 25th anniversary of the death of much-loved icon Princess Diana. It was on August 31, 1997 that the 'People's Princess' died tragically in a car crash in Paris. Our picture gallery takes in the reactions from people in Preston at that time - including a look at a memorial service held for the Princess of Wales, and the signing of books of condolence. That's all for this week folks - until next time... Naomi | |
