National Planning Framework 4 - early engagement

Today we have published information on how we will engage with stakeholders to support the preparation of NPF4, and we have also opened a Call for Ideas. We want to hear from you with your thoughts and priorities.

Our Programme for Engagement explains and highlights the package of engagement opportunities over the coming months to help gather ideas to inform the draft NPF4 which will be published for consultation this September.

The Call for Ideas runs until 31 March and we encourage you to participate. To help stimulate debate, we have posed 5 questions which you may want to consider in developing your thoughts. These are not formal consultation questions, but are offered as prompts if you would find that helpful. You can find out more at www.transformingplanning.scot/national-planning-framework/get-involved/.

Transforming Planning website

Today we launched a new website www.transformingplanning.scot as a resource for following progress and joining in with some key strands of the continuing transformation of Scotland's planning system and national policy.

The site is structured around the substantial work to come over the next couple of years on:

  • National Planning Framework 4
  • Planning Reform
  • Digital Planning

This will be the hub for essential information, resources and opportunities to keep up-to-date and to get involved in all three of these work programmes. We will be updating the site regularly with new material to support understanding and collaboration through the development of NPF4, legislation and guidance following on from the new Planning Act and a digital strategy for planning.
