Summer camp gave Brooklynn the chance to say yes to Jesus |
Dear Friend, Too often, children of prisoners feel alone, unloved, and unworthy. Brooklynn remembers feeling ashamed about having an incarcerated dad. She says, “I was a very angry child. And I would hold it all in, and that’s not healthy.” Thankfully, Angel Tree became a part of Brooklynn’s life when she was 8 years old. And a generous gift from someone like you provided her the opportunity to spend a week at an Angel Tree summer camp. Any gift you give will be matched dollar for dollar up to $40,000, thanks to a generous Matching Grant. Brooklynn says she was shy and embarrassed at first and wouldn’t talk, “and then at camp, I felt so loved and understood that I started to open up.” Camp is also where Brooklynn truly discovered the love of Christ. Today, at 15, Brooklynn has served as a summer camp intern, attends church each week, and volunteers with the little kids in Sunday School. She says, “I feel like going to camp has become a big part of who I am now. I am planning on studying to become a pediatric nurse because I really like kids and I really like helping people.” This is the kind of difference you can make when you send a child to camp! And today, there’s another child like Brooklynn who needs to know how much God loves them. Summer is nearly here. Don't wait, send children of prisoners to camp and give them the experience of a lifetime when you give today! Yours in His service, |
