Hello, Monday lunchtime is when we round-up the top headlines from the weekend - in case you missed them. Two men have been arrested and charged after a spate of burglaries in Preston. The first arrest was made at around 2am on Sunday after police were called to reports somebody had been seen trying the door handles of homes in Fulwood. The second arrest was made just an hour later, at around 3.10am, following reports someone had been seen acting suspiciously in a garden in Ashton. A Preston refugee who stole the show in Freddie Flintoff’s latest TV hit has been granted asylum. Adnan Miekhal, from Afghanistan, was the biggest find of Flintoff’s ‘Field of Dreams’ show and can now look forward to a life in England. Championship football returned to Deepdale on Saturday – and the North End faithful did their side proud. While Ryan Lowe’s side couldn’t find a goal in their 0-0 draw with Hull, the abiding memory will surely be the fantastic flags on the Town End. In all more than 16,000 fans were in attendance It was also the opening weekend of the Premier League season and the appearance of a Preston teenager in the Liverpool squad got people talking.
