Right now, at the University of Pittsburgh Hillman Library, visitors can see a special exhibit of original Forverts newspaper halftone prints from our archive, spanning the 1920s-1960s. This collection features many of our rare front pages: stories of social justice activists, Yiddish theater stars, Jewish baseball players, daily life, and historic moments.
From social justice to sports, this exhibit, derived from our archive of metal photo engraved press plates, highlights what makes the Forverts archive and legacy so special: a record of the depth and breadth of Jewish life in America.
Our mission is to not only preserve our Yiddish archive, but to bring Yiddish into the present day with our daily Yiddish news and content like our Yiddish puzzle Vertl, Word of the Day videos, cooking shows, and more.
When you donate to the Forverts, you’re investing in the preservation and relevance of this vibrant language. Throughout our 125-year history, we’ve relied on the generosity of our donors to bolster our Yiddish news coverage. Be part of this legacy with your donation today.
