Good evening,

The warnings had been there all week. And early yesterday evening we found out that Preston is going back under lockdown restrictions.

This is a huge blow for the city, its economy and the many businesses which are desperately trying to recover from the months they were unable to open.

While in theory there should be no change to footfall - there is no attempt to close any business - the city’s residents were only just starting to feel confident enough to head out and this may force them back inside.

Let’s hope not. But there is no doubt that all of us need to act with extreme caution and NO-ONE should be attempting to circumvent the restrictions now implemented.

If we truly are ‘all in this together’ we all need to respect each other, young and old, and adhere to the guidelines.

The sooner we all comply, the sooner we may be able to get back to something like normality.

Covid-19 is clearly not going to disappear without a superhuman effort from us all. But if we want our lives back, we have to do it.

Take care and stay safe,
