Preston restaurant barred from opening until 4am

A Preston restaurant has been refused permission to stay open until as late as 4am because of the disturbance it may cause to neighbours.

Owners of the Steakhouse Saloon in New Hall Lane applied to the council saying the business was being restricted due to its 11:30pm closing time set by planning chiefs when it first opened seven years ago.

Elsewhere, a former ice cream parlour could become a Muslim prayer and education centre if Preston Council gives its approval.

An Islamic group has earmarked the semi-detached shop on Ribbleton Avenue, which has flats upstairs, as its base in the city and wants to open from 5am until midnight, seven days a week.

Planning permission for a major industrial development on a site near Preston - which was once earmarked for an Ikea store - should not be granted until more is known about its potential impact on nearby motorways, according to National Highways.

They want the decision over the proposed Lancashire Central scheme in Cuerden held off until at least the end of the year.
