Some sad news to start. An MSP has revealed she has been diagnosed with stage three cancer. Ruth Maguire announced she will be taking a medical leave of absence for treatment with immediate effect

There has been an outpouring of support for the SNP MSP following her statement. Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: "Sending love and strength to @RBFMaguire and her family - everyone in @theSNP is thinking of you."

In other news, the golden rosary beads which Mary Queen of Scots took to her execution have been stolen. The priceless piece of jewellery the Scottish queen clutched as the executioner's axe ended her life has been seized as part of a raid at Arundel Castle in southern England. 

Thieves who broke into the castle netted a gold, silver and antiques haul from the Duke of Norfolk’s collection before triggering an alarm.“The rosary is of little intrinsic value as metal, but as a piece of the Howard family history and the nation’s heritage it is irreplaceable,” police said.
