 BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer The proposed Baton Rouge-New Orleans passenger rail is facing more turbulence, as some Metro Council members have raised issues with the potential locations for Baton Rouge stops. Also, a $200 million grant the state wanted from the Federal Railroad Administration, a key source of funding for the project, failed to materialize this year. Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a pact with Amtrak in October to establish the service, possibly in 2027.
LSU will open the 2024 football campaign Sept. 1 with a game against Southern Cal in Las Vegas, and finish the regular season Nov. 30 with a home contest against new Southeastern Conference member Oklahoma.
