Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! Protecting Our Coastline Federal law currently directs all revenues generated from offshore wind leases and production beyond six nautical miles from states to the U.S. Treasury. This policy has put bureaucratic Washington leadership in charge of revenues rather than empowering the state and local authorities to invest funds in coastal infrastructure where it is needed the most. That’s why I joined Senators Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), and 20 of our Senate colleagues as a cosponsor of the Reinvesting in Shoreline Economics and Ecosystems (RISEE) Act. This legislation would direct money generated from offshore wind projects back to South Carolina and give us the resources we need to protect our coastline. Learn more about the RISEE Act here! Spilling the #SCSweetTea and Dancing in NYC This week, I am spilling the #SCSweetTea on the Dance Department in Irmo, South Carolina, who danced their way down West 77th Street in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! Congratulations to the 70 dancers who took the trip to represent the Palmetto State in the most popular parade in the nation! Read more about this here! Sincerely, |
