Project Recovery.
As Colorado SLOWLY tries to reopen, we at Independence understand the only path to economic recovery is through igniting the marketplace, not stifling it. That is, letting people keep more of their own money to save, invest, and spend, and not putting our kids into debt for more politically driven bailouts. To re-ignite Colorado, government must tax less and spend less.
And, we don’t just talk the talk…
Now seems like the perfect time to let you in on a pretty cool thing we’ve been working on. The big idea is to lower our taxes just a little bit. Our current income tax rate in Colorado is 4.63%. We plan to drop it to 4.55%
I’m proud to tell you we have just been given clear title from the Secretary of State’s office to move forward with our citizen’s initiative to LOWER Colorado’s flat income tax on all individuals and businesses. Now while this is an important win, it is just a step closer to getting it passed this fall at the ballot. Up next is gathering the 126,000 valid signatures to get it on the ballot. More about that soon.
This initiative is a double-threat. The left has a ballot proposal to raise taxes with a progressive income tax hike. I’m sure they’ll try to label it as a “middle-class tax cut,” but it will be a whole lot harder for them to sell their fake tax cut with a competing real tax cut (ours) on the ballot next to them. Helping defeat their job-killing, anti-family tax is reason enough to work hard and get our initiative on the ballot.
And then, when we win on election day, it will nail a national “open for business” sign on Colorado’s front door.
