Happy Friday, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Dec. 16, 2022. Andy Dalton has had his share of frustrations this season, but he's relishing his opportunity. Saints reporter Luke Johnson takes you inside of what this season has been like for Dalton. Speaking of Saints' quarterbacks. The biggest news Thursday was about the greatest player in franchise history. Drew Brees was named an interim assistant head coach at Purdue. Brees will help his alma mater prepare for its Citrus Bowl against LSU. How will Brees do as a coach? I went to some of his old teammates for the answer. The Saints, meanwhile, are preparing for Sunday’s home game against the rival Atlanta Falcons. The Saints have added a running back to help now that Mark Ingram has been placed on the injured reserve list. Saints reporter Terrin Waack caught up with Eno Benjamin, who is focusing on looking ahead instead of looking back at the two teams he previously played for this season. Also, cornerback Marshon Lattimore is working his way back. Luke writes about Lattimore and what it will take for him to get back on the field. There was some good news on the injury front as kicker Wil Lutz was back at practice after missing Wednesday’s practice. See more on that and the rest of Thursday’s practice report. Jim Derry, one of our betting writers, weighs in on his picks for Week 15 of the season. That’s all for today. Check the website throughout the day for more updates as we get closer to the Saints’ next game. As always, thanks for reading. Enjoy your weekend. Rod Walker |
