In July, combine your break in the fresh air with a tasty blend of culture and traditions. These are a few of our favourite things: 10 shows by the Amateur Theatre Festival Les 3 Coups (July 6-10) plus a performance of the play Daddy Blues (July 29), will see a cast of actors set the stage for theatrical entertainment this summer. Meanwhile at the fête des Bûcherons (Lumberjack Festival) on 19 July, enjoy an unusual competition featuring logging skills, a rock concert, wood carving demonstrations and even an axe throwing contest ... Another must-see event is the fête de la Madelon (25-26 July) which puts local traditions in the spotlight with a lovely craft fair, geese being herded through the village, Beaufort cheese making demonstration, a funfair, and soup served from a giant cauldron. Finally, don't miss the Pyrosymphonie Live (22 July), an enchanting open air event: an orchestra playing with the majestic backdrop of mountains and a spectacular firework finale crown this captivating event. |
