Ronald Völker takes pole at German ETS Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:57 AM PST Ronald Volker secured the overall top qualifying position in the final group of qualifying of Saturday’s action at Round 2 of the 2019/2020 Euro Touring Series in Daun, Germany. Ronald took the advantage in Saturday morning’s Q3 to move ahead of overnight pole sitter Marc Rheinard, and backed that up with the fastest time in Q4 to ensure that his BD10 would lead the field away for the triple leg finals. Lining up second on the grid will be Marc Rheinard, the Tonisport-backed driver campaigning an Awesomatix this weekend with support from the factory team. Visibly showing fresh motivation with his new chassis, Marc was a little disappointed to be pushed to second on the grid, but with his laptimes almost identical to Ronald’s, it is expected to be a tough fight at the front in the finals. Starting third on the grid will be Yannic Prumper. Also running an Awesomatix this weekend, Yannic noted that there was a slight gap from him to the lead two drivers, and will also have to spend the finals worrying about the drivers behind him trying to steal the podium place away. Starting immediately behind Yannic on the grid will be current ETS champion, Bruno Coelho. Finding more speed in Q4, where he took second place, this moves the Xray pilot into fourth overall, and pushes Yokomo’s Christopher Krapp down to fifth. The rest of the A Final will be completed by ETS R1 winner Alexander Hagberg (Xray), Serpent’s Yugo Nagashima, the Awesomatix pairing of Freddy Sudhoff and Michele Manzo, and the Xray of Marco Kaufmann. They will be joined by one more driver who bumps up from the B Final, which Xray’s Elliott Harper is set to lead off. Jan Ratheisky dominated both the Pro Stock and Formula classes, setting three TQ runs in both with his Xray chassis’. In both classes, Ollie Bultynck became his closest challenger, and will roll off second in the A Finals for each with his Awesomatix in Pro Stock and Roche in Formula. In Pro Stock, Alexandre Duchet found more speed as qualifying progressed to take third overall for Xray, as Simon Lauter (Awesomatix) and Leo Arnold (Xray) round out the top five on the grid. In Formula, David Ehrbar took his Serpent to third overall, with Vienna podium finisher Matej Dobnikar and Czech driver Lukas Hoch filling the top half of the grid. In Front Wheel Drive, which features an impressive 94 entries this weekend, Henrik Heitsch held on to his overnight TQ position as qualifying wrapped up, the big mover being Marwin Riedelbauch who moved into second on the grid thanks to a TQ run in Q4. Vienna TQ Steven Olsen will line up third, and will hope to reverse his fortunes from the Austrian event which saw him drop places in the final. Vienna winner Enrico Jung lines up fourth, ahead of Stefan Schulz. In Masters, Alexander Stocker will start up front, ahead of Andreas Weyhove, Christian Driessle and Werner Schmitzer. A great Q4 from Oliver Krahemann sees him secure fifth on the grid. Finally, in 17.5 Stock, Dominik Ruf took Q3 and Q4 to secure the pole position, with Q1 winner Joachim Altenhof due to line up second on the grid, ahead of Alexander Muller, Marwin Riedelbauch and Thomas Bemmerl. Vision Racing Products A319 motor mount stiffener Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:07 AM PST Vision Racing Products have released first images of their forthcoming new motor mount chassis stiffener for the Agama A319 buggy. Made from 7075 aluminium, coming black anodised and re-machined for looks, the stiffener brace incorporates the outer engine mount and a stiffener brace to reinforce the flywheel area of the chassis, which can be beneficial when running on very bumpy tracks or landing huge jumps as the brace ensures constant gear mesh while keeping away the clutch screw from the fuel tank. In addition prolonging brace can keep the chassis from permanently bending in the highly machined engine and flywheel area. It builds on a moulded tub chassis with a 3-differential drivetrain that improves power control without sacrificing the truck’s stunt and bashing abilities. Marc Rheinard leads ETS Daun after day 1 Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:15 AM PST The first full day of Round 2 of the Euro Touring Series is taking place in Daun, Germany, this weekend. With an additional practice day added on Thursday due to the 410+ entry count, the event officially got underway on Friday with Seeding Practice and the opening two Qualifying rounds. After the two rounds were completed late on Friday evening, it is Marc Rheinard who sits atop the standings with a TQ in the opening qualifier, backed up by a second in Q2. The driver, now officially working for and representing Tonisport, is piloting an Awesomatix chassis this weekend with support from the factory team. Obviously happy to be back on top of the standings following being dismissed by Infinity just before Christmas, the multi-time World Champion will have his work cut out for him tomorrow to remain at the top of the standings. Fellow German, Ronald Volker, holds second overall overnight, with a third place in the first round, after he rolled his car off the track kerbs whilst leading, followed up by the fastest time in the second round. Ronald’s Yokomo team mate, Christopher Krapp, sits in third place with a fifth and third place scores to make it all Germans in the top three at the end of Friday. The Xray pairing of defending ETS champion Bruno Coelho and Alexander Hagberg are in fourth and fifth places currently; the drivers who were dominant at the opening round of the championship in Vienna last October seeming to struggle a little as the grip increased throughout the day. Awesomatix’s Freddy Sudhoff sits in sixth, ahead of Japanese Serpent talent Yugo Nagashima, whilst the top ten is rounded out by Patrick Gollner (Xray), Eric Dankel (Mugen) and Loic Jasmin (Yokomo). Over in the Pro Stock class, Jan Ratheisky made it a clean sweep with two TQ runs, to head Lukas Ellerbrock and Ollie Bultynck in the top three. Behind, Alexandre Duchet holds fourth after Friday’s action, whilst Leo Arnold, who took second in Q2, is fifth overall after a number of errors in Q1. Ratheisky also leads the Formula division with two TQ times, ahead of long-time rival David Ehrbar and Ollie Bultnyck sitting in another third place overnight. Front Wheel Drive is the largest class at this event, with close to 100 entries, and long-time ETS supporter Henrik Heitsch had a perfect start to qualifying, setting the fastest times in both rounds. He leads the way from Marwin Riedelbauch and Jan Gehrig. The Masters class has been dominated by Alexander Stocker, both last season and this, and whilst he officially leads after today’s two rounds, an error-filled Q2 has allowed the field to close up, with Werner Schmitzer second and Gregor Konig in third after Friday. Finally, the 17.5 Stock class saw Joachim Altenhof take the first round, before Alexander Muller took Q2. Joachim has a second place from Q2 to lead at this point, with Muller second and Marwin Riedelbauch doubling-up on classes and holding third overall. Two more rounds of qualifying take place on Saturday, before the day concludes with the first round of the finals.
