SWorkz S35-4E 1/8th E-buggy kit

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 07:14 AM PDT

Following the introduction of the new S35-4 nitro buggy kit, SWorkz have unveiled their forthcoming new S35-4 E-buggy kit. The buggy makes use of most of its nitro siblings’ features, such as a T7075 hard anodised and lightened aluminium chassis that sports a wide layout while the newly developed HET differentials being also included to provide an amount of traction that wasn’t possible with the previous systems. The kit also comes with a lower shock tower layout in the front and rear and the construction of the shocks is adapted to that new optimised layout. The steering geometry, with new Ackermann and steering plates, gives the driver the feeling of total control over the buggy. Also part of the kit are new suspension mounts that utilise new square inserts, allowing the buggy to be adapted to a wide range of track conditions. The lower front and rear arms are moulded using a newly developed composite material and they are of an updated design to fit the new chassis geometry. The side guards were redesigned in the same way. Another development are the totally designed rear hubs. Composite material combined with carbon plates gives drivers the possibility for various setups. The newly developed composite material is working perfectly together with the HET differentials to provide maximum traction. The kit features an aluminium sliding design motor mount for easy gear mesh adjustment and secure motor mounting. With the new lightened wing support owners can adjust the position and angle of the wing to give the buggy perfect on-track balance and together with the optimised new body shell, the aerodynamic system is working perfectly together. The kit is set for a release in the first half of April.

RC Maker A800MMX slim battery mounts & battery weight

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:55 AM PDT

RC Maker have announced the release of new optional parts in the form of A800MMX GeoCarbon battery mounts for the use with slim-type battery packs as well as a slim LCG brass weight. Starting with the battery mounts, slim batteries are narrower and require smaller hooks for installation. RC Maker have modified their original GeoCarbon battery hook design for the narrower batteries, giving drivers a stylish option for securing the new range of slim battery packs. The set includes a 2mm spacer to raise the hooks for increased support, are adjustable left to right for correct balance and fitment, and also support integration with RC Maker’s floating battery mount sets for Awesomatix/Xray or Yokomo.

Also new is a LCG battery plate for slim batteries. With the aim of moving the weight moment towards the centre of the car to reduce weight away from the centre line, slim batteries weigh significantly less than a full size battery. Therefore drivers need to add weight under the battery to bring it back up to normal weight, which is required to meet the weight limit and balancing. The 1mm plate simply attaches to the underside of the battery via the pre-installed ultra thin double sided tape. This will bring the battery weight up to roughly 275g, which is the perfect weight for balancing the chassis. RC Maker recommend purchasing one for each battery, and taping to the battery rather than the chassis, as taping to the chassis can cause unwanted, asymmetrical stiffening of the chassis. The brass battery plate also allows to utilise RC Maker’s new floating battery mounts for Xray, Awesomatix and Yokomo, which integrate with this brass plate and actually float the battery roughly 0.4mm off the chassis super easily. This heavily reduces the impact your battery is having on the flex of your chassis.

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:36 AM PDT

This year’s Australian Off-Road National Championship was held at the Melbourne Off Road Radio Car Club this past weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Team Associated driver, Alex Bernadzik with the overall TQ, however after the 60-minute A-main event, that saw some close racing between Alex and Kyle McBride (Infinity), it was the latter that would excel while Alex had to settle for 2nd overall, just a couple of seconds behind. In 3rd it was JQRacing’s Aaron Dexter who would round out the podium result.

Over in the Nitro Truggy class it was also Alex Bernadzik with the overall TQ but again he was outpaced by Kyle McBride in the main final, meaning Kyle took the title while Alex had to settle for 2nd overall. Mugen driver, Jackson Beale came in 3rd overall.
