Toni Gruber wins Rd1 of Central German Champs Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:54 AM PDT Last weekend the first race of the central German Championship took place at the Wiesbadener Minicar Club track with 42 drivers attending the event. In the expert class it was Shepherd factory driver Toni Gruber who claimed the pole-position for the 30 minute final followed by Shepherd returnee Oliver Mack in second position. At the start of the final Toni was able to defend the first place but Olli followed close behind and tried to keep the pressure high. At the first pit stop team Mack was a little bit faster and Olli re-entered the track just in front of Toni and took over the lead. In the following minutes Olli increased his lead step by step, but unfortunately a backmarker crashed into Ollis car ruining his chance for a victory as some repairs were necessary. Toni took over the lead and never looked back, crossing the finishing line in front of Olli who was able to keep the second place. Dennis Weihert completed the podium in third position. In the amateur class it was rookie Tyries Lagerin who claimed the pole-position in his first race ever in front of the Shepherd drivers Markus Friedrich and Christian Willert. In the main final the racing order changed several times, but after 30 min it was Tyries crossing the finishing line in first position followed by Sven Petrik and Christian Willert. Congratulations to all winners. Source: Shepherd [team-shepherd.com] FacebookTwitterThe post Toni Gruber wins Rd1 of Central German Champs appeared first on Red RC. |

Wins for Jefferies & Askell at BRCA Nats Rd2 Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:14 AM PDT For round two of the BRCA Touring Car series drivers headed to the southeast of the UK to the Colchester club. In modified Olly Jefferies headed the entry but at a recent warm up race he was beaten for the first time this season which threw the form book out of the window and on paper at least opened the door for the likes of Kyle Branson, Chris Grainger and Harley Eldridge who all looked quick in pre national testing. Jefferies took round one of qualifying while Grainger sat out the first round giving him the new tyre advantage over the following runs, the Awesomatix went on to take TQ ahead of Jefferies but would start the finals on used rubber. On fresher tyres for leg one Jefferies did not take long to ease past Grainger and once ahead Jefferies set about managing his tyres for leg two taking as little out of them as he could to take the leg one win. Leg two of the modified A final saw a similar start with Jefferies pushing hard and Grainger defending, but it was a similar story and the Xray driver was soon past and on his way to taking the leg win and with it the overall win. Qualifying third Kyle Branson had one of his best national results moving up to take second overall for Capricorn, Harley Eldridge showed great pace once again and was rewarded with another podium as the Yokomo driver took third on the day. Maximum points for Jefferies after two rounds sees him comfortably on top of the championship table with two rounds in the books. In the 13.5 stock class it was the Capricorn of Billy Fletcher who would take TQ but like the first round at Eastbourne Billy was not able to follow up on a strong qualifying with two good points scoring finals, despite taking the second leg Billy’s first leg let him down on the day and he would finish disappointingly down in fifth. Taking the overall win from third on the grid was Marcus Askell, a result that sees the Xray driver now lead the championship in the stock class. Starting from fourth on the grid Zak Finlay salvaged some useful championship points taking second place for ARC, reigning stock champion James Hart put a poor qualifying performance by his standards behind him to take third overall for Schumacher. Round three of the series sees the championship move north the fast flowing and recently re surfaced Halifax track.
