JConcepts RC8B3.1 Silencer body shell

Posted: 19 Sep 2018 06:29 AM PDT

First developed for the 2012 IFMAR World Championships, JConcepts’ Silencer body has been a mainstay in the JC’s product line which is available for a number of difference vehicles in the market with the latest being the Team Associated RC8B3.1. For the precise fit, the design has undergone changes to match the RC8B.1 chassis side-guards and body mount positioning. The Silencer stance cockpit allows ample fuel tank access, a smoother high-speed windshield transition and increased flow around the engine heat-sink. A deep recess around the engine compartment with dual channeling out the rear provides air escape along with rear-end stability. The Silencer side-pods have a clipped rear-end, narrowing the rear by angling just in front of the rear tyres. The extended runner features are placed on the rear-end of the body enhancing the force placed on the rear pods during high-speed acceleration. The main pods are heavily chamfered and a more heat-shrink design over the pipe, fuel tank and electrical / linkage make up the main pods. The body is capped off with a cockpit shark fin for more high-speed tracking stability and increased roof stiffness and it comes including window masks and a decal sheet.

Patrick Fankhauser takes Swiss 200mm title

Posted: 19 Sep 2018 06:14 AM PDT

The fifth and final round of the Swiss IC Track Championship was held in Herblingen recently. In the 1/10th Nitro Touring class the championship was still open between Raphael Wicki and Patrick Fankhauser while the 1/8th Championship was already sealed by Simon Kurzbuch. To keep his title hopes alive, Patrick had to finish in the top 3 and at least two spots in front of Raphael. During the qualifiers, Patrick struggled a but with his car’s setup, however this was sorted out for the finals and he could win his semi with a 2-laps margin. Due to the high tyre wear, Patrick opted for a high-pace strategy with a full stop for tyres in the finals that were at first lead by Thilo Tödtmann until he ran into radio issues that would cost him the win. After the mid-race tyre change, Patrick found himself on P6 while Raphael was on P3. With fresh tyres however Patrick was able to go a higher pace and he soon closed in on the top drivers. At the 25-minute mark, Patrick was already in P4 and while Raphael was on a different tyre strategy, Patrick was able to get past while Wicki ran out of tyres that would also cost him another position to Niclas Scherrer. In the end it was Marco Rizzo with the win from Simon Kurzbuch as Patrick Fankhauser took the 3rd place and with it the overall championship title in front of Raphael Wicki, Marco Rizzo and Traugott Schär.

Posted: 19 Sep 2018 04:39 AM PDT

Based on the IFMAR World Championship winning YZ-2 platform comes Yokomo’s all-new YZ-2T 1/10th scale 2WD competition racing truck kit. The truck utilises a long wheelbase chassis machined from high-grade aluminium while wide track suspension components and high-capacity big bore shock absorbers soak up any surface imperfections, ensuring optimised jumping, landing and handling characteristics in a wide range of track conditions. Newly developed carbon fibre Ackermann steering plates ensure optimised steering characteristics in combination with the wide track front suspension. In the rear the YZ-2T features a new laydown 3-gear transmission that is ideal for all high-traction surfaces such as clay, astro turf and carpet and it comes equipped with a single style slipper clutch that can be converted to a dual style clutch using separately available option parts.
