| | Following the resounding success of the inaugural edition of the Mavic Haute Route Rockies, the second edition is set to take place in June 2018! The second edition will run over seven days from June 23rd to June 29th in Colorado, the heartland of American cycling. The seven timed and ranked stages will once again include the iconic gravel roads, high altitude passes and beautiful panoramas across the vast Colorado plains. After riding the Haute Route Dolomites in 2014, Israeli rider Avishay Gaziel took on the challenge in the Rockies earlier this summer and was delighted with his experience: “I was slightly apprehensive about riding at high altitude, but Independence Pass turned out to be my highlight of the week,” he said, “It was also my first time riding on gravel and I loved it, it brings a new dimension to road cycling”. “I’ve taken part in many road cycling events,” he added, “but this one was really special. It’s not just about riding for a result, it’s about the experiences and enjoying the amazing landscapes and country you get to ride through with all the other riders in the peloton”. Registration day will take place on June 22nd, and the nearest international airport will be Denver International (DEN). The start and finish cities as well as the full course details will be released in the coming months. The first 50 slots are now available for purchase online at a preferential price of $2,195 USD before the second price phase kicks in. Don’t miss your chance and sign up now to ensure your participation on the second edition of the Mavic Haute Route Rockies. Need extra motivation? NEW IN 2018: RIDE THE HAUTE ROUTE AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR AS A DUO |
|
|
Following the vast amount of feedback collected after previous Haute Route events, the Haute Route concept is evolving in 2018 and will allow riders to sign up either as an individual or as a Duo (team of two cyclists). Riders registering as a Duo will not be included in the individual standings; Duo teams will be ranked in a separate classification (Male Duo, Female Duo, Mixed Duo). The Duo rankings will be established based on the time of the second member of each Duo team to cross the finish line every day. |
