Dear friend and supporter, In a promising development amidst the ongoing conflict, Israel's Ministry of Construction and Housing has taken a significant step to alleviate some of the financial strain on those most affected by the war. As of December 1st, residents of public housing who are either internally displaced or families of hostages taken to Gaza on October 7 can apply to have their rent waived for the duration of the conflict. This decision is a reflection of Israel's commitment to its people, though this relief is limited and will not help everyone in need. Many displaced families are not residents of public housing and thus won't benefit from this initiative. Moreover, the war, with its widespread displacements and disruptions, has created a myriad of challenges that extend beyond housing concerns. Numerous families are grappling with lost incomes, disrupted education for their children, and a general state of upheaval that a rent waiver alone cannot fully address. This is where Feed Israel steps in to fill the gaps. Alongside our ongoing efforts of distributing daily meals to those affected by the conflict, we have launched a new initiative to provide comprehensive support. Recognizing the diverse needs of displaced families, we are actively distributing hundreds of washing machines and other essential household items to alleviate their burdens. These efforts are critical in offering practical assistance and a sense of normalcy to over 130,000 individuals who have been uprooted from their homes. |
