Remains coming home: In the 1880s, the skulls of 19 Black New Orleanians were sent to Germany to be measured for a racist research project. The remains have now returned home, thanks to a team led by a Dillard University historian. Desiree Stennett has the story.
Jail flooding: The water connection to a cell toilet was central to the March 16 breakout at Orleans Parish Jail, but after two weeks and some completed emergency repairs, Sheriff Susan Hutson says some areas of the jail remain flooded. Marco Cartolano has this report.
Unclaimed property: Louisiana is sending out nearly 143,000 checks totaling more than $34 million this week to people in every Louisiana parish. Jonah Meadows has the details.
