Over the past few months we have been busily working away at Res Artis. We've been developing strategies to further support and promote our Members, have welcomed a new team member, and are finding constant inspiration through our incredible, diverse network of Members. We are also on the hunt for new Company Directors! As always, we are dedicated to the sustainability of the international residency sector.

Over the past week, our attention has swiftly been re-directed to our Ukrainian partners, artists and Members, as we have watched the situation in Ukraine develop.

In September 2022 our upcoming conference, titled ‘How to inhabit instability?’ was planned to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine and hosted by IZOLYATSIA  in cooperation with Ukrainian Institute, House of Europe and Goethe-Institut Ukraine.

When we devised this title, we could never have imagined the horrific events that have unfolded over the past week.

We stand in solidarity with our Ukrainian partners, Members, creatives and the people of Ukraine. For a full statement and advice from the Ukrainian institute, please refer to our website. We are currently working with our Members and partners to see how we can best support Ukrainian artists at this time.

Last year, L'AiR Arts Association initiated a new project to restore the last preserved atelier of the prominent artists' community of Cité Falguière in Paris. Located in Montparnasse, at the beginning of the 20th century Cité Falguièreit served as a working and living place for many international artists, including prominent figures such as Amedeo Modigliani, Chaïm Soutine, Tsuguharu Foujita, Constantin Brancusi, and Paul Gauguin.

Their vision is to create an International Arts Research Residency dedicated to the intercultural artistic exchange as the legacy of the École de Paris. Learn more about this exciting project here.

Learning from the Pandemic: Artistic Freedom & Mobility Beyond the Covid-19 Crisis

Our very own Res Artis Board Member Luigi Galimberti contributed to the 'Learning from the Pandemic: Artistic Freedom & Mobility Beyond the Covid-19 Crisis' report in 2021. By learning from the experience of the Covid crisis, this report explores how to support artists and maintain spaces of artistic freedom despite these circumstances. The report was produced through support from Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, Goethe Institut & Martin Roth Initiative.
