Resolute Kyiv residents dig in while preparing to defend their city from nearing Russians

While thousands of Kyiv residents have packed their suitcases and left looking for safety elsewhere, many have refused to leave and vow to defend the capital if it comes to it. “If we surrender Kyiv, we will surrender Ukraine,” one sheltering resident said. “It’s better to die than become a part of Russia.”
