Captain Sir Tom Moore became a household name after his fundraising efforts captured the public’s imagination at the height of lockdown.
View email online | | | | | Feb 2, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening, Just when we thought we could all start being a little more optimistic about the future, Covid lobs a grenade at us. We’ve been celebrating the fact that all of Lancashire’s care home residents have been offered a vaccination against the virus and seeing letters to go out to the over 70s inviting them for their vaccinations. Spring is just around the corner and it actually seemed that we could all breathe a bit of a sigh of relief. And then Covid-19 started to mutate...and mutate again. Now the South Africa variant is on the border of Lancashire and we learn that the Kent variant has a new variant. And no-one can really say exactly how effective our existing vaccinations will be against them. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the very sad news came through that Captain Sir Tom Moore, who provided inspiration for us all in the first lockdown, has died after contracting Covid. Sir Tom would be the first to say we need to stand firm and keep going. Life may be tough just now, but let’s take a leaf out of his book. Until next time, stay safe.
