Restoring Law & Order
Federally funded sanctuary cities have become hot beds for criminal activity. The Biden administration’s failure to solve this problem has emboldened criminals - leaving our neighborhoods unsafe.
This week, I joined my Senate colleagues in reintroducing the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act, which would allow local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and pull taxpayer-funded grants from these criminal safe-havens. It is time to bring safety back to our cities and empower law enforcement to protect our communities.

Freeing American Workers
American workers and small business owners are the bedrock of job creation, opportunity, and economic growth. For too long, federal overreach and power-hungry labor unions have crushed employees with burdensome regulations— crushing innovation and productivity and the ability to provide for their families.
On Wednesday, I was proud to introduce the Employee Rights Act of 2023. This landmark legislation put workers back in the driver's seat by giving them basic protections and empowering them to choose how best to build a future for their families. Now, more than ever, our workers need all the help they can get to stay afloat in Biden’s broken economy.

We Need Leaders With Common Sense Solutions

During this week’s nomination hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, I highlighted the radical records of President Biden’s nominees for top roles in economic and housing policy. The American people deserve leaders who will help their families, not advance a failing, far-left agenda.
Standing Up For Sudanese Civilians, Protecting Americans
Twenty years ago, the Sudanese regime forcibly displaced millions and killed an estimated 300,000 people in the Darfur—an area that remains at risk for mass atrocities.
As ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Africa, I, along with Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), released a statement recognizing twenty years since the Darfur Genocide and expressing concern over recent clashes between Sudan’s army and paramilitary forces. As the hostilities continues, we call on the Biden administration to hold the military junta accountable and to take every effort to protect American citizens and U.S. personnel.

Reinforcing Taxpayer Protections
Filing taxes this week was another painful reminder that Democrats’ out-of-control, inflationary spending has taken more money out of our pockets and put it into bloated federal budgets managed by unelected IRS agents.
I introduced the IRS Accountability and Taxpayer Protection Act to lift the burden off American taxpayers’ shoulders and create much needed accountability for this super-charged bureaucracy. I believe our government should be working for the people, not against them.

The #SCSweetTea on Keeping South Carolina Beautiful
From the beaches of the Lowcountry to the mountains of the Upstate, South Carolinians have a lot to be proud about when it comes to our state’s natural beauty. Volunteers in Laurens County faithfully pick up thousands of pounds of trash, working hard to keep their community looking its’ best. This is proof we can keep our state clean for future generations without heavy-handed government regulation. Way to go, Laurens!
