Good evening, We’ve all been through a lot in the last 15 months or so. Our lives have been turned upside down by a virus which seems to know no limits and pays no respect...but while we wait for official confirmation that remaining restrictions will be removed from July 19, at last some things at least getting back to normal...including an England v Germany knock-out fixture at a major football tournament. Those of us of a certain age will feel more than a little nervous at the prospect. We shared the shock of Waddle and Pearce at Italia 90 and held our heads in our hands when the current England manager shot over the bar in the Euro 96 penalty shoot out. But the eternal optimist in me says our luck has to change at some point, so why not now? Germany are not the team they were and we have a host of attacking options which would frighten most defences. So, I’ll stick my neck out and predict an England win. And I’m so confident, I don’t even think it will go to penalties. Or is that just wishful thinking?
