| | Reusable Cups Are Slowly Returning to Coffee Shops | Katherine and I have been writing for years about how we have to return to reusable cups, like the ones the nighthawks are drinking from in Hopper's painting. But when the pandemic hit I thought that was the end of the refillable cup, as the few that were available were all pulled out of service and customers were no longer allowed to bring their own. But now we know that the virus is spread in the air, not by touching things, and we are also being buried in waste that nobody wants to handle. As Katherine notes, "It may feel like a small drop in the bucket (er, coffee cup) at this point," but you can dig your refillable cup out of storage for the next time you are allowed to go out. | |
