| | RIDE FAMED GIRO d'ITALIA PASSES WITH HAUTE ROUTE |
| Mortirolo, Gavia, Umbrail, and Stelvio… These iconic mountain passes are all accessible from the luxurious resort town of Bormio, Italy, and Haute Route Stelvio is your opportunity to ride and compete on roads made famous by the Giro d’Italia legends. The Passo Stelvio had an auspicious debut in the 1953 Giro d’Italia. Ascending the Prato side of the pass on the penultimate day of the race, Fausto Coppi attacked, building a four-minute lead on the way down to the finish in Bormio to take the pink jersey and win his fifth and final Tour of Italy. |
In 1988, American Andy Hampsten took the Giro’s pink jersey after attacking on the Gavia in a growing snowstorm and descending to the finish in Bormio with an equally frozen Erik Breukink. And in 1994, a young Marco Pantani put his stamp on the Giro d’Italia with a bold attack on the crushingly steep slopes of the Mortirolo (there is a memorial to Pantani on the climb). Haute Route Stelvio provides the unique opportunity for you and a duo teammate to pin on a race number and experience the Mortirolo, Gavia, Umbrail, and both sides of the Stelvio for yourself – with professional timing. |

The course for Haute Route Stelvio is difficult, and we can create tough events because we provide you with the support you need to reach new heights. On the road you’ll have the pros from Mavic for mechanical support, safety motos, fully stocked feed stations, and course marshals. Off the bike you have early-morning breakfasts pre-stage, a daily post-stage massage, on-call medical assistance, nightly rider briefings, and convenient hotel packages (recommended). Make this the year you take on the 48 switchbacks of the mighty Stelvio. |

LAST CHANCE TO RIDE NORWAY... FOR NOW |
In an ongoing effort to help cyclists discover the world’s best cycling destinations, we have decided Haute Route Norway will not appear on the 2020 event calendar to open up space in the calendar for a new location in the international cycling series. That means the 2019 Haute Route Norway (August 2-4) is the last opportunity – at least for now – for to discover the fjords, climbs, and canyons around Stavanger, Norway. |
About Haute Route Norway The 2019 Haute Route Norway event features a number of unique experiences for cyclists, including an undersea start in the world’s longest tunnel and a ferry ride up the Lysefjord past the famous Preikestolen (“The Pulpit Rock”). Stage 1 of Haute Route Norway will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for cyclists. The massive 14.3-kilometer Ryfast tunnel – the longest in the world - is nearly finished, but before it opens for car travel Haute Route has exclusive access to the roadway. The start line for Stage 1 will be 292 meters (958 feet) below sea level! |
On the ferry ride up Lysefjord to the start of Stage 2, riders will pass beneath Kjerag Rock and Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), a flat-topped outcropping 604 meters above the fjord and one of Norway’s biggest tourist attractions. Right from the start of Stage 2, riders will tackle “Norway’s Alpe d’Huez”. The Lysebotn climb averages 10% for over 8km and features 20 switchbacks. Entries and accommodations packages for the 2019 Haute Route Norway event are still available. View event information. |
