Good evening,

So what will your priority be when the country emerges from ‘hibernation?’

While I’ve heard plenty of folks talking wistfully about their first foaming pint of ale or a return to a much-loved restaurant, in our household, there has been only one subject of conversation since the PM announced July 4 as a possible reopening date...a trip to the barber/hairdresser.

After four months, let’s just say hair is getting overlong and overgrey. And this has a significant effect on well-being, which is probably why, during normal times, every hospital has the facility for us to get our locks seen to.

So when the village barber announced he was going to reopen his booking app at 8pm on Tuesday evening, we were ready.

Unfortunately, so were the rest of his clientele and by two minutes past he was booked up for six weeks!

It just shows how much we rely on some services that BC (Before Lockdown) we almost certainly took for granted.

Perhaps we might appreciate what we’ve got a bit more in the future?

Let me know what you are most looking forward to as pubs, restaurants and the rest reopen. Email me at gillian.parkinson@jpimedia.co.uk

Take care for now.
