Beach Babies onboard We've had a new arrival of Beach Babies from the brilliant Rose Wallace. Mighty as they look here, they stand barely two inches tall, making them potent little pals. You won't find these listed online, so come and see the whole collection at our beach side gallery. That said, there are plenty of other creations by Rose on our website: Merfolk, flatback sculpture with Staffordshire glazes, and all sorts of ceramic curiosities for you to discover. Take a deep dive into the work of this Oxford-based potter. |

Cut & Paste Cut & Paste, our exhibition exploring the beautiful versatility of paper, continues in arch two with pieces in all scales and price points by Rob Ryan, Pippa Dyrlaga, Marion Elliot, Ruth Waters, Sarah Gamble, Sue Williams A'Court and, pictured above, Clover Robin. Devon-based Clover is an artist, crafter and designer who studied Surface Pattern Design at Leeds before completing a Masters in Future Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, cementing her passion for a more craft based approach to making. Her tactile artworks, that combine a mixture of cut paper collage, painting, printing and hand drawing, are proving very popular in the gallery, as are her delightful greetings cards. Come and see all the works by Clover, and all the other talented artists in Cut & Paste, before the 14th July. |

All creatures great and small Alison Milner describes herself as a designer of ‘2D for 3D’. Whilst working in many different materials, her preference is for the sustainable and natural, for example: clay, wood, paper, glass and enamel. Mix and match her coaster tiles - there are more than 20 to choose from - each with an image inspired by woodlands, fired onto pale cream tiles with cork-spots to prevent scratching. Shop the collection here. Alison also applies her pared back designs to ceramic brooches, which are ever popular as gifts and souvenirs here in the shop. |

Sketchbooks by the Sea Katie Sollohub returns to ABtS for a two day Sketchbooks by the Seaworkshop on 25th & 26th July. Come fill a sketchbook, working directly on the beach. Be inspired by the sea and the senses - wind and salt on your skin; the sound of waves, and people’s voices; the twisting flight of sea gulls; shifting pebbles underfoot. Using ink, pastels, drawing materials, mixed media and some collage, you will be encouraged to play and let loose in long concertina sketchbooks, moving back and forth in them like the tide. Having the studio so close to the beach means you can dip in and out of the studio as the weather and your inspiration takes you. Find out more and book your place here. |
