Greetings and welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Saints Insider newsletter for Dec. 21, 2022. The Saints got back on the winning track Sunday with a 21-18 victory against the Atlanta Falcons and now must prepare for a quick turnaround before Saturday's game against the Browns in Cleveland. Weather conditions are expected to be Arctic: A high of 15 degrees with sustained winds of 30 miles per hour, creating a wind chill factor below zero. If the forecast holds true, it will be the coldest game in Saints franchise history. The weather is so bad, the Saints are traveling to Cleveland on Thursday, a day earlier than usual, in an effort to avoid potential flight problems into the city. The frigid weather forecast for Cleveland this weekend has wreaked havoc with the betting lines for the game. Zack Ewing reports that the over-under total of 31.5 is the lowest for an NFL in nearly 15 years. The Saints will need to develop a killer instinct if they expect to salvage their season and revive their faint playoff hopes. Luke Johnson reports in our weekly Saints re-watch feature that a series of self-inflicted mistakes nearly cost them in their win against the Falcons on Sunday. Rookie cornerback Alontae Taylor has emerged as one of the bright spots for the Saints defense this season. He's still waiting to record his first interception, but he's confident it's only a matter of time, Luke Johnson reports. The Saints had the day off Tuesday but they still filed an official injury report and a pair of starting offensive players popped up on the list for the first time this season. In fact, center Cesar Ruiz was placed on the injured reserve list, effectively ending his season. Meanwhile, star rookie receiver Chris Olave was a notable addition to the report this week. That's it for today. We'll have plenty of more coverage this week as the Saints ramp up preparations for their game against the Browns in Cleveland on Saturday.
