Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, June 2. We are now less than 100 days away from the start of the NFL season and just a couple of weeks removed from the league-wide vacation, starting in mid-June. Before then, though, there's still news to report from Saints camp. Saints players resumed Organized Team Activities also known as OTAs also known as offseason practices on Wednesday and will have another day of workouts on Thursday, when reporters are allowed access. So there will be plenty of coverage on the docket from the two-hour workout, as our coverage team attends practice and visits with players and coaches during the open locker-room media session. Make sure to check NOLA.com or your Friday edition of The Times-Picayune for our in-depth coverage. Several key veterans did not attend the voluntary workouts last week, including linebacker Demario Davis, cornerback Marshon Lattimore and running back Alvin Kamara. It'll be interesting to see if any of them return to practice this week. Until then, check out Luke Johnson's visit with former Saints standout and two-time Super Bowl champion Malcolm Jenkins, whose foundation helped christen a special night for scores of local high schools students. Check out Luke's story on the life-affirming work Jenkins is doing in retirement. That's it for today. But as noted earlier, check NOLA.com throughout the day on Thursday for more updates from Saints camp as players and coaches hit the practice field for another day of offseason workouts. Until then, cheers! Jeff Duncan |
