Ready or not, here comes Ian Book
With Jeff Duncan Happy holidays and welcome to the Christmas Eve edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. What a day Thursday turned out to be for the Saints, as the team announced nine players were added the reserve/COVID-19 list, including quarterbacks Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian. As our Luke Johnson so eloquently put it in his report on the situation, "The Saints have a full-blown COVID situation on their hands." The situation was so bad, the Saints canceled practice in a precautionary measure. The club still released its official injury report for the Dolphins game and it wasn't good. Amie Just has the story. In all likelihood, this means Saints fans will finally get their first look at rookie quarterback Ian Book, who is slated to start the Saints' game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. Amie Just has the story on how Book reached this point in his career. Columnist Rod Walker has his annual Christmas wish list for area sports fans, and it's always a great read. As you might expect, there are plenty of Saints-related requests. And finally, I weighed in on the controversy surrounding Saints defensive back P.J. Williams, who touched off a firestorm of debate after his low tackle on Chris Godwin Sunday night led to a season-ending injury for the Tampa Bay Bucs receiver. My column on how Williams is being labeled a dirty player and why the criticism is unfair. We've got a lot more coming this week. Thanks as always for following along and for your continued support! - Jeff Duncan |
