Sandhills School welcomes $2.1 million expansion

The project includes a 9,000-square-foot educational wing and the renovation of nine classrooms at the southeast Columbia school, which serves students in first through 12th grades with learning differences. The Boyd Foundation is funding the expansion.

Initial unemployment claims rise by 2,000 in week

The 6,700 claims filed for the week ending Feb. 6 represented an increase of 2,035 from the previous week. Anderson County saw a state-high 1,374 initial claims filed, 825 more than Greenville County.

S.C. Department of Education seeks program partners

The department’s summer meal program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provides summer meals to children when school is not in season. Organizations can become a program sponsor or a summer meal site.
