Plus, Maine gets ready for Trump's lawsuit

Hello there,

Happy Wednesday!

🏛️ Donald Trump’s administration has announced that it is suing Maine's Department of Education for allowing transgender girls to participate in girls' sports, but Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills isn't backing down. "This matter has never been about school sports or the protection of women and girls, as has been claimed, it is about states' rights and defending the rule of law against a federal government bent on imposing its will, instead of upholding the law," she said. 👏🏽

🚨 U.S. activists are joining their counterparts in the United Kingdom in denouncing the U.K. Supreme Court’s ruling that transgender women aren’t considered women under the nation’s Equality Act. For everyone on the U.K. Supreme Court in the back: Trans women are women.

📣 Rep. Sarah McBride, the first-year Democrat from Delaware and the first out transgender member of Congress, forced the Trump administration into a high-profile reversal this week after it tried to slash funding for a critical manufacturing support program in her home state.
