Stations from across the state are coming together this week to celebrate.
| Dear John, Right now, we need a free, fair and fact-based press. One way to do that is to become a public media member and supporter. As our state grapples with a global pandemic, climate change-fueled wildfires and demands to address the unmet promise of social justice and equality, I’m excited to introduce the first-ever California Public Radio Day. California is lucky, our public radio stations have long worked together to cover major events like wildfires and elections, and in recent years we’ve even stepped up those efforts to help build a California Collaborative Newsroom, in partnership with each other and NPR. And California Public Radio Day is a special day of unity taking place this Thursday, August 27, with public radio stations across the state participating. For you and millions of other listeners, California's network of public radio stations is a daily source of fact-based news and information, a means of discovering your next favorite artist, a consistent melody of voices and music to underscore daily activities and, most importantly, a community you can trust. A cornerstone of public radio is that it is free to all, but without your support, that could be at great risk. I hope you’ll join together with your fellow Californians to help boost this critical service and share your love for public radio. This week, you can help by: Donating early: starting today, your gift in any amount counts towards California Public Radio Day Forwarding this email to a friend: this day of giving will need the strength of our community and networks in order to succeed Sharing on social media the important role public media plays in your life: "I'm supporting my local public radio station @KQED on #CaliforniaPublicRadioDay. Join me: donate.kqed.org/california" Thank you for being a valuable partner to KQED and public service journalism in your community. | |
