| | | | | | On behalf of the Austrian Institute for International Affairs - oiip, the Department of International Relations of the Central European University - CEU and the Conflict and Security Research Group - CONSEC I cordially invite you to the following talk Norm Contestation and Transformation in the Global Peacebuilding Order: Russian, Chinese and Japanese Peacebuilding Practices The prevailing global peacebuilding architecture has primarily been driven by the discourses and practices of developed industrialized states – and mainstream principles of a “liberal peace” have a decidedly Anglophone ring to them. The field lacks a comparative perspective on the way in which the norms and practices of peacebuilding have been challenged and transformed, especially with regard to “new” and “aspiring” actors such as China, Japan, and Russia. How and to what extent do their respective policies in conflict-affected and fragile states differ from those of mainstream peacebuilders, and how do their practices affect the overall global architecture of peacebuilding? This presentation, drawn on a multi-year research project demonstrates how global peacebuilding norms and practices emerge and evolve through a dynamic, multi-directional flow of influences and mechanisms. Talk by: Keith Krause Professor, Graduate Institute Geneva, Director, Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding Date & Time: November 19, 2021 1:30 – 3:00 P.M.
