More than 1,600 file unemployment claims in week

In the last 16 weeks, 651,750 initial unemployment claims have been filed in South Carolina. The federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, which provides an additional $600 per week, is set to expire July 25.

Anderson and Greenville-based credit unions merge

Anderson Federal Credit Union and Greenville’s SC Telco Federal Credit Union have agreed to combine $500 million in assets in a merger announced June 30. The two credit unions have 10 banking locations throughout the Upstate and Midlands.

Extended tax filing and payment deadline nears

Individual income taxes, along with corporate income taxes and license fees, are due July 15. The deadline was extended because of COVID-19 concerns.

Greenville-based Arcpoint Labs has developed another COVID-19 test to add to its repertoire, an antibody test that not only detects COVID-19 antibodies in the blood but also how effective they are in holding off the virus.

Ambulance company builds workforce through program

Medshore Ambulance is building its workforce with a new program to help potential emergency medical technicians reach certification in eight weeks. The Anderson-based company launched a program this summer to help attract people to a profession facing a shortage of personnel.
