13 S.C. law enforcement departments receive more than $8M

The awards are part of more than $400 million awarded nationwide through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Applicants were required to identify a specific crime or problem focus.

Last rollback of business restrictions expected soon

Following the release of AccelerateSC’s final report, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette noted that the last business restrictions in deference to the coronavirus pandemic will be lifted soon — maybe even in an announcement later this week. The report includes statewide COVID-19 expenditures and further guidance.

Wells Fargo curtailing loans to independent car dealerships

Wells Fargo, one of the largest lenders for purchases of new and used cars, is no longer making auto loans to most independent car dealerships, a sign the bank is concerned about defaults in the wake of the pandemic.

Food Lion buys Bi-Lo stores

Food Lion plans to purchase 62 Bi-Lo and Harvey's Supermarket stores in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia from Southeastern Grocers. The transaction will include 15 Bi-lo locations in the Upstate.

Free COVID-19 testing in West Columbia on June 16

The drive-thru testing, a partnership between Lexington Medical Center and DHEC, will take place at Brookland Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. It is free and open to everyone.
