Spartan Motor Inc., based in Charlotte, Mich., plans to establish operations in North Charleston with a $1.15 million investment that is expected to create over 300 new jobs.

City of West Columbia expands online bill pay

People can now pay West Columbia water and sewer bills, as well as citations for traffic and codes violations, by phone or online. Officials anticipate an online system will be in place soon for payments for business licenses, hospitality and business permit fees.

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for this morning for the new $14 million North Charleston Athletic Center. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said he expects the center to be an economic driver of sports tourism.

College to host Milliken diversity professional

Spartanburg Community College will host the next Professional Speakers Series featuring Ricaye Harris, director of diversity and inclusion at Milliken & Co. The event, presented in partnership with First Citizens Bank, is noon to 1 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the college’s downtown campus.
