S.C. unemployment rate falls below 3%

The state unemployment rate dropped to a record low of 2.9% in September, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. The number of S.C residents working grew to a record 2,311,479.

Strategy Plastics expands in Anderson County

Strategy Plastics LLC, a full-service plastic injection molding company, today announced plans to expand to Anderson County. The company will invest more than $3.4 million and expects to create 81 new jobs, according to a news release from the S.C. Department of Commerce.

South Carolina to get $4M in medical device settlement

The $4 million awarded to the state is part of a $116.9 million settlement 41 states agreed to with Johnson & Johnson and its Ethicon Inc. subsidiary for deceptive marketing of transvaginal mesh devices.

AFL gets 12 patents for technology

Spartanburg-based AFL has received 12 patents over the past quarter for technology and product development in fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, test equipment and connectivity, according to a news release.

MKSK becomes employee-owned company

MKSK Inc., a landscape architecture, urban design and planning firm, has become an employee-owned company through the creation of a new employee stock ownership plan. The company has about 100 employees in seven studios around the country, including seven people at its Greenville location.
