Tornado cleanup continues in Taopi
| April 18, 2022 Cleanup continues in the small town of Taopi in southern Minnesota, after a tornado destroyed nearly half the homes in town last week. The EF2 tornado hit last Tuesday night, sweeping through the town of less than 100 people. Officials say 10 of the town's 24 homes are total losses. Amy Lammey, the Mower County emergency manager, says people in Taopi who lost their homes are so far planning to rebuild in the same place, and are working their way through insurance claims. Scholarships send a ‘shockwave of hope’ around north Minneapolis | Pillsbury United Communities announced the $1 million in funding, which will pay for scholarships for the nearly 100 graduating seniors at North High School. Students will be able to use the money for college or career training and Pillsbury United will send the funds directly to the educational institution of students’ choice. | |
