Message from Mike Norman, CEO |
Our team at Kentucky Science Center hopes your family’s school year is wrapping up with celebrations of success and promotions. Congratulations to graduates of every level! We miss not being able to celebrate these momentous occasions with you in person but are diligently preparing to welcome you back as soon as possible. The past couple of months have been rough on so many, but we are thankful to the individuals and organizations who continue to invest in our mission of Encouraging people of all ages to Do Science in ways that are Engaging, Educational, and Entertaining to Inspire a lifetime of learning. Recently we received philanthropic donations from PNC, Delta Dental, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, and individuals like you to support our work in delivering science curriculum to you free of charge on our social media channels. We are also using this opportunity to deep clean and redesign our exhibits, install sanitation stations across the building, and prepare for a safe and healthy re-opening, starting with School's Out Science Camps, currently scheduled for mid-June.
| Inspired by the generosity of others, we also did our part to support heroes in the medical profession by donating masks and gloves we would have normally used over the past couple of months to the Norton Healthcare team. Norton has been a generous supporter of KSC over the years and we are happy to contribute to the care and wellbeing of our community, if even just a bit. |
We recognize things will be different for all of us moving forward, and as an organization committed to SCIENCE, we are embracing every opportunity. We are elevating our protocols to keep you and your families safe as you enroll in our onsite camps, engage in our virtual programming, and plan family visits to our exhibits and theater. Like you, we’re following the instructions of government and public health leaders and will continue sharing information as we all safely ease back into the workplace and plan for summer adventures. As always, please feel free to contact me or anyone on our team directly. We are truly #InThisTogether. Mike Norman, CEO |

School's Out Science Camp |
| Kentucky Science Center School’s Out Science Camp will begin the week of June 15! In compliance with the guidelines announced by state and local officials, we will institute wellness screenings, social distancing measures, and disinfection and sanitation protocols for our staff and facility. We will announce our full procedures on our website within the next week. This summer's KSC School's Out Summer Camp will provide the transition our campers need. From stay at home, 2D, online interactions to in-person, friends laughing together, building friendships while doing all things Science. Camp provides a familiar, safe place to take those first steps into the new normal. |
We aim to provide the safest camp possible for our campers and staff. The science is still there, just with a little more space between the bowls of slime. We are exploring new ways to communicate with and include our campers in the conversation. Navigating these uncertain times can be scary and overwhelming. Camp can lay a course toward building resilience and hope that will set root and grown with our campers throughout their lives. We anticipate some camp families will be more comfortable with waiting until later in the summer to join us for these families we can transfer earlier registrations to later in the summer. We will be offering a risk-free refund for families make their attendance decision up to one week prior to camp start date. This summer's camp may look different, but we will be there for our campers, their families, our staff and the community. Thank you for your continued support by trusting us as part of your camp family. You and your camper make camp a bright reality! 2020 KSC School's Out Summer Camp is here to make the most of this summer. We look forward to seeing you all in June! |

My Big Little Adventure |
Kentucky Science Center is proud to be a partner of My Big Little Adventure (MBLA), which offers a continually updated road map of activities, events, and resources designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their families and caregivers. My Big Little Adventure invites adults and kids to read, play, and explore together. Thanks to recent funding from PNC, MBLA has currently shifted to an online focus with a growing array of activities to spur learning, creativity, and of course a little fun during the week. The MBLA partners have increased the availability of online resources, including Giant Activities from Bernheim, Do Science at home activities from Kentucky Science Center, Creature Features from The Louisville Zoo, and storytelling from StageOne Family Theatre. And of course, MBLA has many activities that can be done around the house or around the block as well. |
